Status at launch
DMZ launches 23 Oct 2026 alongside Multiplayer and the campaign, on the Hajin map. Early Access has been live since 20 Oct, and the first DMZ tiers are set.
- Tiers are early ratings after the first day of live play.
- Entries marked provisional and the pairings are still projections.
- DMZ has its own damage tuning, close to Warzone, so the projections start from the MW4 Warzone beta (Resurgence) and adjust it for armored AI, bosses and the DMZ economy.
- Recheck everything during the first week.
- Builds are listed best first.
- No builds with the nerfed Frangible ammo or with attachments the gun doesn't have, and no incomplete ones.
- The ISO Nightshade has the first DMZ build; the others are still MP and Warzone-beta builds, so recheck them in DMZ.
- Every attachment slot costs DMZ Cash, so a build with fewer or earlier attachments is the cheaper choice until your bank grows; the Apex is free once unlocked.
- Early Access has been live since 20 Oct for digital pre-orders. The first hotfix on 20 Oct fixed crashes and soft locks, and the ISO Nightshade's Apex (ISO Trace) now works in DMZ. Launch patch notes are due 22 Oct.
- Pre-order bonus: the Inner Circuit M4 blueprint. Campaign completion rewards include Double XP and Double Weapon XP tokens.
- Attachments unlock once and then work on every gun that uses them. Weapon XP and attachments earned in DMZ Early Access carry into MP.
- Tac Sprint is on by default in DMZ. In MP it needs a perk.

PvP: bounty hunting, Hunt Operators ops, contested exfils.
-
Convoys, helicopters, the Deathstalker.
-
Kastov 762 or FiNN LMG + RPG 8 or JOKR or PM-40 Anvil
Commanders and the tank (untested).
-
KG-7 Vulcan + X-58 Nyx (PvP)

Levels 1–9 (no Gunsmith yet)
Run the free loadout and loot. Prioritize extracting Weapon Manuals for the M4, Han 86 and ISO Nightshade. Buy from the Vendor from Level 5.
How DMZ changes the meta
Weapons and the Gunsmith
Weapons are locked behind Weapon Manuals. To buy a gun repeatedly in the Gunsmith, you must find and extract its Weapon Manual. An extracted gun without its manual is a single copy; lose it and that weapon type is locked again.
The Gunsmith unlocks at DMZ Level 10. Before that you rely on:
- the free loadout
- guns from your stash
- the Vendor (unlocks at Level 5; stock rotates daily)
- guns looted from AI, Lieutenants, players and military containers
Gunsmith builds max out at 5 attachments. Guns found in Hajin can have up to 8.
The Apex slot is free. You pay no DMZ Cash for it, as long as the weapon is leveled enough to unlock it.
Attachments are unlocked by weapon level, which is shared with MP. Leveling a gun in MP unlocks its attachments in DMZ.
Costs
| Item | Cost (DMZ Cash) |
|---|---|
| Base M4 | about 5,000 |
| Base SMG | about 3,000 (2,850 with the 5% Gunsmith discount) |
| First attachment slot | about 1,000; each further slot costs more |
| Lasers | about 1,900–6,887 |
Blueprints are free to equip once. Afterwards they can always be bought at a discount.
Weapon Insurance Contracts exist.
Armor
Your armor slot fills with plates automatically on infil. You can only bring extra plates through traits or the Armor Box field upgrade.
Vests:
- 1-Plate and 2-Plate
- 2-Plate and 3-Plate Ballistic Gel
- 2-Plate and 3-Plate Helmet
- 3-Plate
- Tempered (enhanced plates)
Some vests protect from one-shots. This makes high-damage, sustained-fire guns more valuable than one-shot snipers in PvP.
AI and bosses
| Enemy tiers | Grunts, then armored soldiers, then armored gas-masked soldiers, then faceless armored soldiers. |
|---|---|
| Other threats | Drone swarms, LMG drones, K9 quadrupeds (mostly underground), attack helicopters and road convoys. |
| Lieutenants | Bosses with increased durability. They always drop their Dog Tag Case and rarely drop their signature weapon. |
| Commanders | Resistant to many standard weapons, so bring launchers and explosives.
|
Threat level runs from Low to Extreme. Loud fights escalate the enemy response.
Stealth works. Melee, throwing knives and suppressed shots keep threat down.
Weapon choice in DMZ
Big mags and recoil control beat raw MP TTK, because you often fight several armored AI at once.
AI engages across open terrain, so you need to hit reliably at mid to long range.
Suppressors are worth a slot for PvE stealth.
Armor Piercing ammo exists on most guns and is the natural PvE pick. Its exact effect against plates and AI in DMZ is untested.
Keep builds cheap and low-level: losing a gun costs real money.
Other DMZ facts that affect your loadout
FOB stations
| Unlocks | Stations |
|---|---|
| Immediately | Operators, Orders, Stash/Loadout, Firing Range (targets from under 10 m to over 100 m), Survival Kits, Bounty Leaderboard |
| DMZ Level 2 | 3D Printer |
| After your 2nd Order | Boss Board |
| DMZ Level 5 | Vendor |
| DMZ Level 10 | Gunsmith |
| DMZ Level 20 | Dog Tag Case |
DMZ has its own progression from Level 1 to 70. Playing MP or Warzone does not raise your DMZ level, but DMZ play does earn MP and weapon XP.
Stash and loadout
The stash starts at 40 items plus 12 weapons.
The Basic Pack has 8 slots.
You get 2 Active Duty operators (3 with the Vault Edition). Each has its own trait tree.
3D Printer
Starter recipes:
- Bandage, Medkit
- 1-Plate and 2-Plate Armor Vest
- Small and Medium Backpack
Later recipes include Pain Killers (max health, reduced damage effects, faster regen for a minute) and the Tempered Armor Vest.
Traits worth building around
| Possum | Self-revive from death once per match. |
|---|---|
| Die Hard | Auto-calls exfil while in Last Stand. |
| Viper Sense | Hides you from thermals and AI targeting. |
| Quick Fix | Faster regen after kills. |
| Combat Resistance | Less explosive damage. |
| Field Crafting | Craft in the field. |
Risk
You become Wanted after 4 operator kills across deployments.
Paid infils: on foot is free, then Polaris Dagor 5K, 25K, 50K, and a 100K plane drop.
A radiation storm intensifies over time. Exfil before it closes in.
Vehicles need fuel and repairs in DMZ. Use gas stations.
