Privacy

In short: Metka sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services, shows no ads and loads nothing from third-party servers. The only data processed is the technical data needed to deliver a page.

Hosting with Cloudflare

Metka is delivered through Cloudflare: Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. On every page request, Cloudflare processes this data:

  • your IP address
  • date and time of the request
  • the address requested and the amount of data transferred
  • browser and operating system (user agent)
  • the page you came from (referrer)

The purpose is to deliver the site reliably and quickly and to fend off attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare processes the data as a processor on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR).

We do not analyse access logs ourselves and keep no visitor statistics. How long Cloudflare stores the data is set out in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Cloudflare also processes data in the USA. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, so the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

No cookies, no tracking

Metka sets no cookies and embeds no analytics, tracking or advertising services. Fonts, images and scripts are delivered together with the site, not from services such as Google Fonts or other third-party servers.

Storage in your browser

On the settings pages you can tick off steps of the checklist. So that your ticks are still there on your next visit, your browser keeps them in its local storage (localStorage). This data stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else.

This storage is strictly necessary for a feature you choose to use (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete the ticks at any time with “Reset” in the checklist or through your browser settings.

Contact by email

If you email us, we process your email address and your message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the message once the matter is settled and no legal retention period applies.

Encryption

Metka is only delivered encrypted over HTTPS.

Your rights

You have the right at any time to:

  • access the data we process about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • have incorrect data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the one where you live.

Right to object

Where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). We will then stop processing the data unless there are compelling legitimate grounds for it or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Changes

We update this policy when Metka or the law changes. The version published here applies.
